First Aid Training

The aim of the course is to provide and ensure that users understand the basic requirements of administering First Aid. Emergencies can happen at any time and in any place, and a treatment delay of just a few minutes can mean death when the heart has stopped. When emergencies happen you need to know what to do, and the correct procedures to follow.

The training content focuses on the following elements, essential in understanding first aid:

  • Assess the casualty in an emergency situation

  • Initiate a call for help to emergency services

  • Understand your responsibilities in the workplace

  • Correctly document your first aid treatment

  • Identify the basic systems in the human body

  • Recognise the importance of hygiene in first aid

  • Demonstrate the steps involved in the examination of a casualty

  • Manage a multiple casualty situation

  • Identify the mechanism of injury in road traffic accidents

  • Identify the four links in the ‘Chain of Survival’

  • Understand the importance of first aid kits

  • Recognise the basic items in a first aid kit
